Last May I had an AMAZING opportunity to go on a college trip to New York City. The semester had ended and this was the perfect time to blow off steam and explore a new city. The one place I enjoyed the most was the Bronx Zoo. I had watched the show on Animal Planet and with my upcoming trip I knew I had to visit it. Not only does it have a vast array of animals but their conservation efforts are inspiring.
I visited on a rainy, overcast day early in the season so I didn’t get to see all the attractions. On the plus side- the weather kept the crowds away!

I will say visiting the zoo is quite a workout. There is a lot of ground to cover since the animals have plenty of room to roam. I had the Total Experience ticket, which runs about $39.95 for adults, and that got me into any special exhibits. The Wild Asia Monorail was not open the day I visited but I was able to see Jungle World and the Gorilla Congo. I recommend the Total Experience ticket, which is a good value as is, but you can usually get 10% off on their website.
Maine doesn’t have the exotic wildlife found in tropical climates so it was wonderful to see them in real life.

I didn’t see everything I wanted to so I definitely want to return for a much longer visit.
